Compress files instantly. Nothing leaves your browser.
Shrink PDF, PNG, JPEG and WebP files with precise control over quality and size — plus a professional crop tool. Every byte is processed on your device.
Files never leave your device. Compression, cropping and packaging all run in your browser. Byteshrink has no upload endpoint and no file storage.
Compress a file
Add PDFs or images to start. Everything runs in your browser.
Drag & drop files here
PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF — add as many as you like
Nothing is uploaded. Files stay in this browser tab.

A guided five-step wizard
Byteshrink walks you from file to download without guesswork.
Step 1
Add your files
Drag in PDFs or images. They open on your device and are never uploaded.
Step 2
Choose what to do
Reduce a file's size, or crop an image — two separate tools, so the controls stay simple.
Step 3
Set your options
For a size reduction: quality, a new size and the file type. For a crop: frame it and pick the file type.
Step 4
Check the result
See the size and quality before and after, side by side.
Step 5
Download
Save each file, or all of them in one ZIP file. Refreshing clears everything.
Everything you need to make files smaller
Built for people who care about the result, not just the percentage.
Stays on your device
Compressing, cropping and bundling all happen right here in the page. Your files are never sent anywhere.
Real control
Pick a quality level from 1 to 100, set a new size, switch file types, and open up extra options when you want them.
A proper crop tool
Aspect-ratio presets, rotate, flip, a helpful grid, zoom and pan, with undo, redo and reset.
PDFs too
Shrink scanned and picture-heavy PDFs, or take a lighter approach that keeps the text selectable.
Handles a batch
Run lots of files with the same settings and download them all together in one ZIP file.
Free, no sign-up
No account, no watermark, no limits. There is no server doing the work, so there is nothing to charge for.
Supported formats
Convert between image formats during compression — for example a heavy PNG screenshot into a light WebP.

Why keeping files on your device matters
Most online compressors send your files to their servers first. Byteshrink never does.
Private by default
Contracts, ID scans, medical images and unpublished work stay on your own device. There is no copy sitting on someone else's computer, and nothing is kept once you close the tab.
Fast, and always there
Nothing to upload and no queue to wait in. The tool loads its working parts only when you open it, so the rest of the site stays quick.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Every step — opening the file, cropping, resizing, making it smaller and bundling several together — happens right inside the web page on your own device. Your files never leave your computer or phone, and nothing is kept once you close the tab.
Which file types can I use?
Images in PNG, JPEG and WebP, and PDF documents. You can also switch an image from one type to another while you compress it — for example turning a large PNG screenshot into a much smaller WebP.
How can a PDF be made smaller without a server?
For scanned or picture-heavy PDFs, Byteshrink takes a fresh, lower-resolution snapshot of each page and saves those as a new PDF. If you would rather keep the text selectable, there is a lighter option that just removes hidden information and tidies the file up.
Will making a file smaller lower the quality?
For JPEG and WebP, a lower quality setting trades some fine detail for a smaller file. The preview step shows the original and the smaller version side by side, so you can pick a setting you are happy with before downloading. PNG stays perfectly sharp unless you turn on the colour-saving option.
Is there a file size or count limit?
There is no set limit. The real limit is how much memory your device has, since all the work is done locally. Byteshrink warns you when a file is big enough that it might be slow.
